Raipur, Feb 4: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, on Wednesday approved a sweeping set of administrative and security reforms, including the formation of a dedicated Special Operations Group (SOG) and district-level anti-narcotics task forces. The decisions, taken during a high-level meeting at Mahanadi Bhavan, mark a significant move toward specialized law enforcement and high-tech governance in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To bolster the state\u2019s rapid response capabilities against terrorism and sudden security crises, the Cabinet sanctioned 44 new posts for the creation of an SOG under the Special Branch of the Police Headquarters. Simultaneously, in a major crackdown on drug trafficking, 100 new posts were approved to establish Anti-Narcotics Task Forces across 10 high-priority districts: Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg, Bastar, Mahasamund, Surguja, Kabirdham, Jashpur, Rajnandgaon, and Korba.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a landmark urban reform, the Cabinet decided to transfer 35 completed residential colonies from the Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) and the Raipur Development Authority (RDA) to their respective municipal corporations. This decision aims to resolve the long-standing “double burden” on residents who were forced to pay both municipal taxes and maintenance charges to development agencies. The handover will streamline the delivery of essential civic services, including water supply, sanitation, and road maintenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital transformation took centre stage with the approval of the Chhattisgarh Cloud First Policy. The mandate requires all state departments and autonomous bodies to migrate to secure, India-based cloud servers empanelled by the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT. Low-priority applications are slated for migration by 2027-28, while high-priority citizen services must transition by 2029-30. To ensure digital parity in remote regions, a new Mobile Tower Scheme was cleared to fast-track telecom infrastructure in Maoist-affected and geographically challenging areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting also paved the way for Chhattisgarh to emerge as a regional aviation hub. The Cabinet approved guidelines for establishing Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) at state airports and airstrips through private participation. This initiative is expected to provide local pilot training and generate employment in allied sectors such as aircraft recycling and aero sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other key highlights included the launch of the Chhattisgarh Innovation and Startup Promotion Policy 2025-26 and the authorization of District Collectors in Sirpur and Arpa to allot government land at a nominal premium of \u20b91 for planned riverfront and special area development.
