Raipur, <\/strong>March 25: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said Naxalism in the state is in its final stages as 18 Maoists, including dreaded commander Papa Rao, laid down their arms in Jagdalpur on Wednesday. The Chief Minister stated that the ideology of violence is steadily losing ground as Bastar transitions from a region of fear to one defined by development and trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The surrender of Papa Rao, a key member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, along with 17 associates, is being viewed by officials as a major blow to the Maoist leadership structure in the Red Corridor. The group surrendered before senior police and administrative officials in the Bastar divisional headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Chief Minister Sai attributed this shift to the state government\u2019s rehabilitation-focused approach, noting that several misguided youth are now choosing to return to the mainstream. Access to security, dignity, and employment opportunities is encouraging former cadres to abandon the path of violence, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The state government has prioritised improvements in infrastructure, education, and healthcare to transform the socio-economic landscape of the tribal heartland. The Chief Minister credited the central leadership and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah for strengthening the resolve toward a Naxal-free India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He further praised the efforts and sacrifices of security forces engaged in sustained operations under challenging conditions.
