Raipur, April 08: Raipur district administration has announced that students residing in the city will now be eligible for 5 kg LPG cylinders to mitigate the ongoing fuel crisis. The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting led by Additional Collector Kirtiman Singh Rathore, following directives from Collector Dr Gaurav Singh.
Gas agencies have been instructed to prioritise the distribution of these 5 kg units for students living away from home. To obtain a cylinder, students must submit a valid identification card and official proof of residence in the district.
The administration has mandated a steady supply for critical sectors, including hospitals such as AIIMS and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital. Social welfare institutions, including old-age homes and orphanages, have also been placed on the non-negotiable priority list for fuel supply.
Oil company representatives noted that current operational constraints require a 25-day gap between bookings in urban areas and a 45-day gap in rural areas. Additionally, there is a temporary ban on issuing new connections or providing additional cylinder units until further notice.
Additional Collector Rathore warned against panic-buying and stated that any misconduct or law-and-order issues at agency offices must be reported to the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and local police immediately. Strict legal action will be taken against those attempting to bypass distribution rules.
