Retired Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai will head the committee, which is tasked with creating a uniform legal framework for marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption. The move aligns with Article 44 of the Constitution and aims to ensure gender and religious equality across the state.

In a landmark move for women’s empowerment, the cabinet decided to slash registration fees by 50 per cent for properties purchased in the name of women. Despite an estimated revenue loss of ₹153 crore, the initiative seeks to boost financial independence and property ownership among women. Additionally, serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their widows will receive a one-time 25 per cent rebate in stamp duty on property purchases worth up to ₹25 lakh.

Significant reforms were also cleared for the industrial and mining sectors. Amendments to the Chhattisgarh Industrial Land and Building Management Rules, 2015, will now include the service sector and NBFCs under land allotment eligibility to improve the ease of doing business. For the mining sector, the cabinet approved reserving sand mines for public sector undertakings like the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation to curb monopolies and address supply shortages.

To tackle illegal mining, the cabinet cleared strict amendments to the Minor Mineral Rules, 2015. Penalties for illegal transportation and storage have been hiked, ranging from ₹25,000 to ₹5 lakh. The government also introduced stricter norms for “idle mines,” including higher rent after 30 years and provisions to declare such leases as lapsed to ensure optimal resource utilisation.

The cabinet further addressed long-standing financial issues under the Madhya Pradesh State Reorganisation Act, 2000. It approved the reimbursement of ₹10,536 crore regarding excess pension payments. While the Madhya Pradesh government has already released ₹2,000 crore, the remaining ₹8,536 crore will be settled in six annual instalments.

Welfare measures including a pilot project for dairy cattle supply were expanded to cover all social groups. To bolster animal health, the state will procure vaccines directly from Indian Immunologicals Limited for the 2026-27 financial year. The meeting concluded with a review of fertiliser availability for the upcoming Kharif season and a steady supply of LPG across the state.

Chhattisgarh cabinet clears UCC draft panel and major property tax sops for women Raipur, April 15: The Chhattisgarh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, on Wednesday approved the […]

[9,20

post-2230","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-chhattisgarh","category-display","has_thumb
["GET
