Raipur, April 30: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai moved a resolution in support of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam during a special session of the Vidhan Sabha today, stating that ensuring one-third reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies is a vital step toward their empowerment. He noted that the initiative would strengthen women’s participation in democratic institutions and provide balanced representation in society. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this move would grant the nation’s female population a decisive role in the decision-making process, making development more inclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing the house, Chief Minister Sai remarked that Chhattisgarh is the land of Mata Shabari, Maa Danteshwari, and Maa Mahamaya, where women have always been revered as ‘Shakti.’ He emphasised that in Indian culture, women are not just symbols of respect but the foundation of creation and strength. He cited the scriptural essence of “Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Matru-rupena Samsthita,” highlighting that this philosophy is deeply ingrained in Indian life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chief Minister paid tribute to legendary figures such as Bhakt Mata Karma, Teejan Bai, and Usha Barle, who have brought international laurels to the state. He also drew inspiration from historical icons like Rani Laxmibai, Rani Durgavati, and Avanti Bai, while noting that modern achievers like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams have enhanced the nation\u2019s global prestige.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Highlighting state initiatives, Chief Minister Sai announced that 2026 is being observed as ‘Mahtari Gaurav Varsh’ in Chhattisgarh to honour the contributions of women. He stated that the government is prioritising their health, security, and financial independence through various schemes. He added that women in remote and challenging terrains are being linked to the mainstream through targeted welfare measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chief Minister further noted that women are becoming self-reliant through self-help groups (SHGs) and rural livelihood missions. He pointed out that active female participation in Panchayati Raj institutions is a shining example of a strengthening democracy.
