Raipur, May 18: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday launched the Chhattisgarh Police\u2019s upgraded ‘Next Gen CG Dial-112 Service’ and flagged off a fleet of mobile forensic vans at the Mana Police Parade Ground in Raipur. In the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Raman Singh, Shah flagged off 400 state-of-the-art Dial-112 emergency response vehicles and 32 mobile forensic vans designed to strengthen the state\u2019s emergency response apparatus and scientific investigation infrastructure. Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Juneja, along with senior public representatives and police officials, attended the high-profile launch event.
The newly overhauled emergency response platform operates under the localized Chhattisgarhi theme \u2018Ekke Number, Sabbo Bar\u2019 (One Number for All), integrating police, fire, and medical emergency responses into a unified contact matrix to ensure rapid assistance during accidents, natural disasters, or health crises. The 400 newly inducted emergency vehicles feature high-tech integrations, including global positioning systems (GPS), wireless communication equipment, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) cameras, dash cameras, mobile network video recorders (NVR), and dedicated solar power backups to facilitate live incident monitoring and real-time fleet tracking.
Operating round-the-clock, the service utilizes geographic information system (GIS) tracking, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunk technology, and automated caller location identification to seamlessly bridge all 33 district coordination centres across Chhattisgarh. Citizens can trigger distress alerts through multiple digital communication channels, including direct voice calls, SMS, email, dedicated web portals, WhatsApp chatbots, and the pan-India ‘SOS-112 India’ mobile application.
Simultaneously, the Union Home Minister operationalized 32 mobile forensic vans under the institutional framework ‘Science on Wheels \u2013 Towards Faster Justice.’ Driven by the localized slogan \u201832 Vans \u2013 32 Districts \u2013 One Resolve: Precise Investigation, Swift Justice,\u2019 each district in the state will be allocated one specialized unit. Procured at an estimated cost of \u20b965 lakh per vehicle, each van is equipped with advanced forensic toolkits, crime scene preservation apparatus, evidence collection systems, fingerprint detection grids, on-spot narcotics testing kits, digital forensic gear, and ballistic investigation systems including Gunshot Residue (GSR) testing facilities.
Senior administrative officials observed that traditional methods of transporting critical evidence from crime locations to state forensic laboratories frequently triggered procedural delays and heightened the risk of sample contamination. The strategic deployment of these mobile forensic units allows investigative teams to execute preliminary scientific examinations, preserve evidence, and create digital documentation directly at crime scenes. The state home department noted that the dual modernization of the Dial-112 network and scientific forensic deployment will sharply accelerate crime resolution timelines, enhance evidence-based justice delivery, and reinforce public confidence in the regional law-and-order machinery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
