Raipur, June 30: <\/strong>Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday announced a financial allocation of \u20b91 crore for the development of Ramgarh and stated that the state government is committed to securing a distinct global identity for the region\u2019s historical, cultural, and archaeological heritage. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the two-day historic Ramgarh Mahotsav 2026 in Surguja district, the Chief Minister emphasized that infrastructure and tourist amenities are being systematically expanded across ancient sites to attract national and international visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sai described Ramgarh as a living symbol of Chhattisgarh\u2019s glorious traditions, nature worship, and cultural consciousness. He noted that popular beliefs associate the region, particularly the Sita Bengra Cave, with the exile period of Bhagwan Shri Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman during the Treta Yuga. He added that the Sita Bengra Cave is widely recognized as one of the oldest theatres in India, while the adjacent Jogimara Cave remains globally renowned for its ancient murals and rock formations like Hathipol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister highlighted that literary historical references indicate Mahakavi Kalidasa composed his epic poem Meghadutam<\/em> in Ramgarh, further elevating its literary significance. Assuring the public of sustained state patronization, Sai announced that the annual Ramgarh Mahotsav will continue to be organized with institutional grandeur every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reviewing regional growth, Sai stated that infrastructure and welfare development works worth more than \u20b92,387 crore have been sanctioned for Surguja district over the last two and a half years. He maintained that the state’s public housing initiatives are progressing rapidly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister asserted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the operational resolve of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, security forces have achieved decisive success against Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in the Bastar division. He added that rehabilitation benefits, including permanent housing, are being actively extended to surrendered Maoists and families belonging to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting administrative reforms, Sai mentioned that government recruitment drives are underway across various state departments to generate youth employment. He added that the newly launched Chief Minister Helpline is actively functioning to ensure transparent, time-bound resolution of public grievances. Concluding his address, the Chief Minister announced the formation of a new Nagar Panchayat by merging Udaipur and Dumardih to fulfil a long-standing local demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Tourism and Culture Minister Rajesh Agrawal stated that the Ramgarh Mahotsav serves as a vital institutional platform to preserve and promote Chhattisgarh’s folk arts, connecting the younger generation with their roots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the event, Chief Minister Sai facilitated the Shala Pravesh<\/em> (school enrollment drive) of six children from the PVTG Pahadi Korwa community by presenting them with school bags and study materials. He also felicitated digital tourism influencers who filmed special travel documentaries across the Surguja circuit between 26 June and 30 June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by MLAs Prabodh Minj, Ramkumar Toppo, Shakuntala Porte, and Uddeshwari Paikra, along with Chhattisgarh State Youth Commission Chairman Vishva Vijay Singh Tomar, senior administrative officials, and public representatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
