Raipur, July 06: <\/strong>Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday performed the bhoomipujan<\/em> (groundbreaking ceremony) for health infrastructure development projects worth over \u20b9103 crore at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College. Addressing a large gathering of medical professionals and students, the Chief Minister asserted that a healthy Chhattisgarh forms the fundamental cornerstone of a developed state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly launched development package includes the construction of a modern 200-seat hostel for medical students, a vertical expansion of the regional cancer institute building from the second to the sixth floor, and dedicated residential complexes for doctors and nursing staff. Chief Minister Sai noted that the student hostel fulfils a direct commitment made during his previous interactive visit to the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Highlighting the state\u2019s rapid progress, the Chief Minister stated that his administration has successfully translated ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ welfare commitments into ground reality over the past two and a half years. He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and is moving decisively toward becoming a developed nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister also revealed that the Union Government has extended robust assistance to the state’s healthcare proposals, including the clearance of the DM Cardiac course. He expressed optimism that Chhattisgarh would soon be allocated an All India Institute of Ayurveda to help systematically document and commercialize the state’s rich forest-based medicinal plant resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turning his focus to tribal regions, Sai noted that Bastar is steadily shedding the shadow of Left Wing Extremism (LWE) and embracing rapid rural development. He added that the state health department has reached the inner hinterlands of Bastar and Surguja, conducting door-to-door medical screening camps for lakhs of residents. He explicitly appealed to graduating medical students to dedicate a portion of their careers to serving in these remote tribal pockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the venue, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao termed the \u20b9103-crore allocation a historic milestone and strictly directed the Public Works Department (PWD) and executing contractors to complete the civil works ahead of schedule without compromising structural quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal detailed the broader transformation underway in the state’s medical education framework. He announced that work has been revived at the long-pending medical colleges in Korba, Kanker, and Mahasamund, while the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) Bilaspur is undergoing an extensive upgrade. Jaiswal added that a 100-bed Yoga and Naturopathy Hospital and Research Centre is currently being developed across a 10-acre campus, and the state\u2019s second-largest specialized cardiac facility will soon open in Jagdalpur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to senior department engineers, the landmark cancer wing expansion will add 11,000 square metres of specialized clinical space. The facility will integrate advanced oncology laboratories, 64-bed general wards, private isolation rooms, specialized intensive care units (ICUs), and state-of-the-art modular operation theatres to scale up tertiary cancer care in Central India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The high-profile event was attended by Raipur City North MLA Purandar Mishra, Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC) Chairman Deepak Mhaske, Health Secretary Amit Kataria, Medical Education Commissioner Ritesh Agrawal, and Pt. JNM Medical College Dean Dr Vivek Chaudhary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
