Raipur, July 26: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Sdeo Sai on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated mention of the state in his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat is a matter of pride for every resident. The Chief Minister made these remarks after listening to the 136th episode of the programme alongside youth, public representatives, and citizens at Daya Bhawan in the capital city.

Sai said Mann Ki Baat has evolved into a powerful platform that highlights inspiring stories, innovations, and public initiatives from across the country. He noted that the broadcast gives national recognition to individuals and organisations contributing selflessly to society.

Over the past few months, Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly showcased Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage, tribal traditions, and innovative state initiatives. These include national highlights on the archaeological site of Malhar, the Bastar Olympics, and Bastar Pandum.

During Sunday’s broadcast, the Prime Minister praised Korba district’s scientific approach to water conservation and groundwater recharge under the Catch the Rain campaign. Sai pointed out that Korba’s use of modern technologies—including geospatial mapping, shallow aquifer management, and recharge wells—has strengthened rainwater harvesting and ensured long-term water security.

The Prime Minister’s recognition of these local efforts has enhanced Chhattisgarh’s image at the national level while encouraging widespread public participation in sustainable development, the Chief Minister added.

Emphasising that water conservation remains vital for agriculture, the environment, and future generations, Sai affirmed that the state government is actively promoting rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, restoration of ponds, conservation of traditional water bodies, and large-scale tree plantation through community participation.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s address on Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Chief Minister said the sacrifices and bravery of the Indian Army during the Kargil War continue to inspire patriotism and national service across the country. He urged citizens to enthusiastically participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by hoisting the national flag with respect on Independence Day.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s call for Vocal for Local, Sai said Chhattisgarh’s tribal handicrafts, handloom products, kosa silk, bell metal, bamboo crafts, clay art, and forest produce possess immense potential and deserve greater public support. He appealed to people to use eco-friendly clay Ganesh idols during Ganeshotsav, noting that the practice supports local artisans while reducing environmental pollution.

The Chief Minister further urged citizens to actively participate in the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam (One Tree for Mother) campaign to strengthen ongoing environmental conservation efforts.

Praising the achievements of India’s youth, Sai noted that the Prime Minister highlighted major milestones in science, space, sports, and innovation, including the successful launch of a privately developed rocket and outstanding performances in international science competitions. He reiterated that the Chhattisgarh government remains committed to providing quality education, skill development, sports infrastructure, and innovation opportunities to empower youth and contribute to the vision of a developed India.
