Raipur, Aug 10: Chief Minister Vishnudeo Sai on Monday led a massive Tiranga Yatra in the state capital, walking alongside thousands of citizens carrying the national flag from Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium to Subhash Stadium.

Accompanied by key cabinet colleagues, public representatives, ex-servicemen, and school children, Chief Minister Sai stated that the tricolour symbolizes India’s unity, integrity, and the enduring sacrifices of the freedom struggle. “The Tiranga possesses the inherent power to unite 140 crore Indians across diverse languages, cultures, and traditions under a singular national identity,” Sai said, encouraging citizens to actively participate in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign by hoisting the national flag at their homes on Independence Day.

Paying rich tributes to regional icons of the independence movement, the Chief Minister highlighted the legacies of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, who fought British exploitation on behalf of the underprivileged, and Bastar tribal leader Gundadhur, who mobilized local communities against foreign rule. He stressed the importance of passing these historical narratives to the younger generation.

Emphasizing regional progress, Chief Minister Sai noted that Bastar is steadily transitioning from decades of violence toward peace and structural development through coordinated efforts of the double-engine government, security forces, and local communities. He added that Independence Day celebrations and Tiranga Yatras will extend across remote villages and former left-wing extremism strongholds this year, backed by expanding healthcare, education, and road infrastructure.

A key highlight of the rally was a nearly one-kilometre-long national flag carried by students. Residents along the parade route welcomed participants by showering flower petals and waving flags, accompanied by patriotic slogans. Senior leaders present included Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, Ministers Guru Khushwant Saheb, Rajesh Agrawal, Laxmi Rajwade, and OP Choudhary, alongside local parliamentarians and civic officials.
