Jashpur, Aug, 17 Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai engaged in traditional agricultural operations at his native village, Bagia, in Jashpur district on Monday morning, ploughing a paddy field with a pair of oxen to perform Biyasi (inter-cultivation).

Holding the wooden handle of the plough, CM Sai shared reflections on his deep-rooted agricultural background, stating that farming represents an essential personal value system and a way of life rather than merely a means of livelihood.

“The satisfaction of connecting with one’s village, soil, and fields is unique. Holding the handle of a plough revives old memories of farming. Spending time amidst the fields offers immense peace and recharges the spirit,” CM Sai remarked while working in the lush green field.

The Chief Minister noted that growing up in a rural agricultural family allowed him to experience farming closely from childhood. He credited his rural roots for teaching him to respect manual labour, live in harmony with nature, and remain steadfastly connected to his origins.

Emphasising the cultural and economic importance of agriculture in the state, CM Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s identity remains intrinsically linked to its fertile soil, hardworking farmers, and rich heritage. He added that the state’s festivals, rural traditions, and economic foundation are built upon the efforts of the farming community.

“Even in this era of modernization, maintaining a connection with our traditions and roots is vital. Farming teaches us patience, hard work, and sensitivity towards nature. A farmer does not merely grow crops; through his labour, he sustains society and strengthens the state’s economy,” CM Sai said.

Acknowledging the contribution of local agricultural workers, the Chief Minister bowed to the dedication of the state’s farmers, wishing them prosperous yields and a secure future. He reiterated that the prosperity of the state depends directly on the welfare of its agricultural sector.

Despite his hectic schedule in public office, CM Sai frequently returns to his native village to engage in routine farm activities. His active participation in field operations on Monday morning underscored his ongoing commitment to preserving rural customs and supporting the state’s agrarian identity.
