Raipur, Aug 24: The Chhattisgarh government will convene a state-level consultation on August 27 in Raipur to deliberate on the draft and implementation framework of the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state.

The consultation, scheduled at the New Circuit House Convention Hall in Civil Lines, will feature the high-level committee constituted by the state government to draft the legislation. Around 200 prominent citizens, public representatives, legal experts, and social leaders have been invited to participate in the discussions.

Officials stated that the meeting will focus on the specific provisions of the proposed legal framework, its potential social impact, and the practical aspects of implementing the unified law across Chhattisgarh’s diverse population. The state government aims to incorporate feedback and suggestions from various communities to create a balanced draft.

The high-level committee also plans to host separate sectoral interactions with specific interest groups and organizations to gather detailed submissions on various facets of the code.

The August 27 deliberations mark the first major formal consultation step in Chhattisgarh’s UCC drafting process. Further round-table meetings and public submission drives will follow before the final draft is presented to the state cabinet.
