Over 1,000 women donate blood in single day in Raipur, setting world record
Raipur, Sep 23: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated an Ayurveda Service Conference, Mega Blood Donation Camp, and Health Check-up Camp at Sardar Balbir Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium on Wednesday, where over 1,000 women donated blood in a single day to establish a Golden Book of World Records benchmark.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event held under the state-wide Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the Chief Minister praised the community participation, particularly from women and youth, calling blood, body, and organ donation an exemplary act of social responsibility and service to humanity. Golden Book of World Records representatives presented the record certificate and medal to Chief Minister Sai during the event.
More than 3,600 women registered for the blood drive, which utilized a 200-bed setup aiming for a overall target of 2,500 units.
Highlighting the Project Dadhichi initiative, Sai commended 31 individuals who pledged body donation at the event, including Dharsiwa MLA and Padma Shri awardee Anuj Sharma. Total body donation pledges under the project have now reached 103.
Extending greetings on National Ayurveda Day, the Chief Minister underscored the state’s commitment to integrating traditional Indian medicine with modern healthcare. He highlighted ongoing efforts under the Ministry of Ayush to promote wellness centers and preventive healthcare alongside expanding modern medical infrastructure across Chhattisgarh.
Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal outlined the state’s expanding health infrastructure, noting the development of super-specialty facilities in Jagdalpur and Bilaspur, along with four new Yoga and Naturopathy hospitals. Construction of a 100-bed Ayurvedic hospital opposite NIT Raipur and a new Ayurvedic hospital building in Bilaspur are also underway.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, Revenue Minister Tank Ram Verma, MP Brijmohan Agrawal, and MLAs Sunil Soni and Prabodh Minz were present at the event.
