Raipur, Sep 28: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai visited the flood-affected areas of Bastar district on Monday and reviewed ground-level relief operations, announcing an additional financial assistance of ₹10,000 to each affected family from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

During his visit to Dongaghat in the Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation area, Chief Minister Sai interacted with displaced families, listened to their grievances, and assured them of full state support during the crisis. The announced ₹10,000 sum will be provided over and above standard government relief provisions.

Chief Minister Sai directed officials to expedite damage assessment surveys for houses, crops, and livestock to ensure financial aid reaches eligible beneficiaries without delay. He stressed that relief work must prioritize humanitarian sensitivity, ensuring no affected family is left behind.

Later, the Chief Minister inspected the Indravati River water levels from the Indravati Bridge. He asked departmental heads to maintain continuous vigilance over weather forecasts, closely monitor low-lying areas, and keep emergency rescue units on high alert.

To prevent disease outbreaks as floodwaters recede, the Chief Minister directed the Health Department to deploy mobile health camps, ensure continuous water chlorination, and maintain adequate stocks of essential medicines across all affected settlements.

Bastar Commissioner Doman Singh, IG B.N. Meena, Collector Akash Chhikara, SP Shalabh Sinha, and local public representatives, including Mayor Sanjay Pandey, accompanied the Chief Minister during the review.
