Infrastructure development must align with future needs, economic growth priorities: CM

Raipur, Oct 13: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday directed officials to align infrastructure development with the state’s long-term economic priorities and future demographic needs, stressing that there should be no compromise on construction quality or project timelines.
Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Mukhyamantri Adhosanrachna Mission at Mahanadi Bhawan, the Chief Minister instructed departments responsible for capital expenditure to establish clear timelines for every stage—from budget allocation to project completion.
Highlighting the long-term objective of building a developed state under ‘Anjor Vision 2047’, Sai said capital investment in public infrastructure must deliver maximum benefits to the economy, industry, agriculture, and citizens.
“Expenditure on infrastructure is not merely a construction cost but an investment in the state’s future. Project selection should be based on an assessment of how the proposed infrastructure will impact transportation, trade, tourism, and employment generation,” the Chief Minister said.
Sai directed officials to prepare a long-term master plan for the state’s road network based on a detailed survey identifying two-lane and four-lane expansion requirements across major traffic, industrial, and rural corridors.
Addressing asset maintenance, the Chief Minister emphasized that routine upkeep is as critical as new construction. He asked departments to integrate long-term maintenance mechanisms right at the project planning stage to extend the service life of public assets and save state resources.
On educational and public infrastructure, Sai instructed planners to design schools, colleges, and government buildings with future expansion, accessibility, and safety provisions in mind to avoid unnecessary expenditure on later modifications.
The meeting also reviewed plans to connect project planning, approval, procurement, and physical execution through an integrated digital monitoring system across departments to track progress in real time and eliminate delays.
Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao, Finance Minister O.P. Choudhary, Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, Principal Secretary to CM Subodh Kumar Singh, and Secretaries of PWD, Finance, and IT departments, were present in the review meeting.
