Raipur, Oct, 28: The Indian Air Force’s renowned Sarang Helicopter Display Team is set to headline the Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav celebrations, with five helicopters scheduled to perform a spectacular aerial display at Sendh Lake in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar on 2 November starting at 11:00 AM.

Members of the elite display team met Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at his official residence office in Raipur on Wednesday and presented him with a memento. Welcoming the team to Chhattisgarh, Sai stated that their participation in the state’s Foundation Day celebrations is a matter of immense pride, offering citizens a rare opportunity to witness the Indian Air Force’s exceptional flying skills, discipline, and professional excellence.

The Chief Minister emphasised that the aerial display would be particularly inspiring for students and young people across the state. He added that the courage, precision, and coordination demonstrated by the pilots reflect years of rigorous training and teamwork, which can encourage youth to pursue ambitious goals with determination and foster a strong spirit of national service.

Sai also highlighted the significance of the team’s use of indigenously developed Advanced Light Helicopters, known as Dhruv. He noted that the display would showcase India’s advanced technological capabilities and steady progress toward self-reliance in defence and aviation, while encouraging young aspirants to consider rewarding careers in the armed forces.

The 2 November show will feature five helicopters performing highly coordinated formations, precision flying, and daring aerial manoeuvres. The Sarang team is globally renowned for its synchronized formation flying, which requires extraordinary concentration, technical proficiency, and mutual trust among pilots, making it one of the premier attractions of this year’s Rajyotsav festivities.

The aerial contingent will be led by Group Captain Abhijit Kumar and includes two distinguished women pilots, Squadron Leaders Ankita and Akshaya. Their participation was warmly welcomed by the Chief Minister, who remarked that their remarkable achievements would inspire the daughters of Chhattisgarh to explore challenging opportunities in aviation, defence, and other demanding professional fields.

Sai reiterated that the increasing participation of women in demanding professions reflects expanding societal opportunities. He added that the shining example set by the two women pilots reinforces the message that unwavering determination, hard work, and access to proper opportunities can help women achieve their highest aspirations.

During the interaction, Group Captain Kumar expressed deep delight at the opportunity to participate in Chhattisgarh’s grand Foundation Day celebrations. He stated that the Sarang team has consistently showcased the Indian Air Force’s unmatched skills and professionalism through breathtaking performances across India and on international platforms.

Kumar elaborated that the team’s core objective extends far beyond entertaining audiences with aerial acrobatics. Their displays also seek to inspire young minds to embrace courage, confidence, discipline, and dedicated service to the nation, encouraging them to believe in their dreams and work consistently toward their goals.

The Sarang team performs exclusively with the indigenous Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter, a shining testament to India’s growing capabilities in indigenous aviation technology. The helicopters’ distinctive vibrant colours and tight formations create a striking visual spectacle, while the precision required to maintain formation and execute complex synchronized manoeuvres underscores the vital importance of rigorous training and collective teamwork.

Guided by the inspiring motto “Inspiration Through Excellence”, the team proudly represents the Indian Air Force at major national and international events. Their performances seamlessly combine elite flying skills with immaculate discipline, coordination, and technical expertise.
