Five from Chhattisgarh clear UPSC 2025; Janakpur farmer’s daughter secures IPS
Raipur/Manendragarh/Dhamtari, Feb 06: Five aspirants from Chhattisgarh have cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025, bringing laurels to the state. The successful candidates include Darshana Singh (Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur), Raunak Agrawal (Raipur), Vaibhavi Agrawal (Raipur), Diamond Singh Dhruv (Dhamtari), and Sanjay Dahriya (Raipur).
Darshana Singh, daughter of a farmer from Janakpur, secured the 383rd rank and has been selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS). Her achievement has sparked celebrations in Janakpur, a former gram panchayat recently upgraded to a nagar panchayat.
Her mother, Seema Singh, serves as a councillor of Nagar Panchayat Janakpur, while her father, Arun Singh, is a local farmer. Darshana completed her schooling in her village before clearing the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to pursue engineering at IIT Kanpur.
“I nurtured the dream of becoming an administrative officer since Class 5,” Darshana said. After her B.Tech, she moved to Delhi for a year of coaching before shifting to independent study. She chose sociology as her optional subject, clearing the prestigious exam in her second attempt.
Despite her selection for the IPS, Darshana plans to appear for the examination again. She aims to improve her rank to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
In Dhamtari district, Diamond Singh Dhruv from Parswani village secured the 623rd rank. A 2024 batch officer of the Chhattisgarh State Police Service, Dhruv currently serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Dhruv, who qualified under the Scheduled Tribe category, is eligible for the IAS or IPS. He prepared for the UPSC for over two years in Delhi through self-study, emphasizing that “patience and persistence” were key to his success.
In Raipur, successful candidate Sanjay Dahriya received a personal visit from Collector Gaurav Singh. The Collector congratulated Dahriya with a bouquet and sweets at his residence.
Dahriya was a participant in ‘Project Anubhav’, a district administration initiative designed to guide UPSC aspirants through the interview process. His success underscores the impact of local mentorship programmes on national-level competitive exams.
