Raipur, April 9: In a major stride toward modernizing the state’s pedagogical framework, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has launched the ‘AI Saksham Shiksha Abhiyan’—a comprehensive, Artificial Intelligence-led education campaign designed to transform Chhattisgarh into a premier hub for knowledge and technical innovation.
The initiative was formalised following a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s official residence on Wednesday, attended by a delegation from Google India, including Sanjay Jain, Head of Google for Education India, and Rajesh Ranjan, Head of Public Policy. To mark the collaboration, the Raipur district administration signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Google to roll out the project as a pilot in the capital before a phased state-wide expansion.
The programme sets an ambitious target to provide AI training and professional certification to over 2 lakh teachers across Chhattisgarh. Under the ‘Saksham Shikshak Abhiyan’ vertical, Google for Education will provide its advanced digital suite free of cost, enabling educators to integrate modern methodologies into their daily classroom routines.
The first phase of the rollout will involve intensive, hands-on workshops for an initial cohort of 200 teachers in Raipur. These sessions will focus on the practical application of AI in curriculum design, automated grading, and personalized student assessment to improve overall learning outcomes.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasised that the integration of AI is not merely a technological upgrade but a strategic move to ensure Chhattisgarh’s students remain globally competitive. “Our goal is to build a robust, technology-enabled education system at the grassroots level,” the CM stated. He further noted that the initiative directly aligns with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the broader Digital India mission.
By providing teachers with access to high-level digital resources, the government intends to shift from traditional rote learning to an outcome-oriented, innovation-driven environment. Senior officials, including Secretary to the CM Mukesh Bansal and Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh, were also present to discuss the logistical roadmap for the scheme’s expansion into tribal and rural belts.
