CM Vishnu Deo Sai calls for effective rollout of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam
Raipur, April 17: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has reached out to Members of Parliament, legislators, and women’s organisations across Chhattisgarh, urging active participation in the time-bound implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. In a series of formal communications, the Chief Minister described the upcoming parliamentary discussion on 16 April 2026 as a “decisive moment” for India’s democratic journey.
Writing to the state’s MPs, Sai emphasised that the legislation presents a historic opportunity to ensure greater representation for women in democratic institutions. He noted that the Act’s unanimous passage in 2023 reflected a collective political will and urged MPs to ensure its provisions are implemented ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
In a separate message to MLAs, the Chief Minister stressed that women-led development is crucial for inclusive growth. He called on legislators to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s voice in support of women’s reservation, highlighting the importance of increasing their representation in decision-making processes.
Addressing women’s organisations, Sai acknowledged their sustained efforts in driving social change. He stated that the 16 April debate is a transformative step toward empowering half of the country’s population and making democracy more responsive.
The Chief Minister also noted that the discussion coincides with the celebration of Mahtari Gaurav Varsh in Chhattisgarh. He cited existing state initiatives, such as the 50 per cent reservation for women in local bodies and schemes like Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Rani Durgavati Yojana, as evidence of the state’s progressive stance on gender equality.
