Raipur, Governor Ramen Deka inaugurated the first National Rover-Ranger Jamboree on Friday at Dudhli village in Balod district, calling upon the youth to become active partners in nation-building. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the Governor described the jamboree as a celebration of unity, diversity, and brotherhood that transcends the boundaries of a regular camp.
The ceremony, attended by School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav and Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) National President Dr Anil Jain, commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp. The Governor also released the Jamboree magazine and unveiled new badges to mark the historic occasion.
Governor Deka emphasised that scouting and guiding instill leadership, discipline, and a spirit of service among the youth. He urged every participant to perform at least one positive act for society daily, noting that the inaugural event is a moment of pride for Chhattisgarh.
School Education Minister Gajendra Yadav said the movement serves as a powerful platform to connect the youth with social responsibilities. He noted that the Rovers and Rangers represent a passionate workforce ready to serve the country and the world.
Chief National Commissioner Dr KK Khandelwal termed the hosting of the first-ever national-level jamboree for Rovers and Rangers at Dudhli as a historic milestone. Chief State Commissioner Inderjeet Singh Khalsa expressed gratitude to the state administration for their collaboration in making the event possible.
The inaugural day featured a march past where contingents saluted the Governor, followed by cultural performances showcasing India’s diverse traditions. The five-day event has drawn 33 contingents from across Indian states, including representatives from the Railways and Navodaya Vidyalayas.
