CM Vishnu Deo Sai unveils Silver Jubilee Medal for Chhattisgarh Police

Raipur, Jan 28: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday unveiled the Chhattisgarh Police Silver Jubilee Medal at the Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur to mark 25 years of the state’s formation. The medal, which was first announced by the Chief Minister during the Republic Day celebrations on 26 January, honours the police force’s commitment to safeguarding peace and security.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the medal would become an enduring symbol of the force’s indomitable courage, valour, and sacrifice. He noted that over the past two and a half decades, Chhattisgarh Police personnel have demonstrated extraordinary bravery, particularly in strengthening law and order and spearheading anti-Naxal operations in challenging terrains.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the medal is designed to reflect the state’s unique cultural identity and natural heritage. The circular silver-coloured medal features an embossed image of the Sal tree on the front and the Hill Myna on the reverse. The Hill Myna, the state bird, represents alertness and team spirit, while the Sal tree—sacred to the people of Bastar and Surguja—symbolises resilience and protection.
The new decoration will be worn on the left side of the uniform above the pocket. According to official protocol, it will be placed in the order of precedence following the Ashoka Chakra, Keerti Chakra, Gallantry Medals, and the President’s Distinguished and Meritorious Service Medals.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel, and Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam. Other senior officials present included Principal Secretary Subodh Kumar Singh and Additional Directors General of Police SRP Kalluri, Pradeep Gupta, and Amit Kumar.
