CM Vishnu Deo Sai hails PRAGATI portal as catalyst for ‘Viksit Bharat’

Raipur, Jan 29: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday stated that the PRAGATI digital platform has become a cornerstone of good governance and a vital tool in achieving the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a press conference at the New Circuit House here, the CM highlighted that the platform ensures transparency and accountability by bridging the gap between government intent and execution.
CM Sai noted that India has emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy, with the PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) portal playing a transformative role. He described the platform as an excellent example of the ‘Minimum Government-Maximum Governance’ model, which fosters better coordination between the Union and State governments for the effective implementation of mega infrastructure projects.
The Chief Minister emphasised that unlike in the past, where projects remained pending for years after foundation stones were laid, the PRAGATI portal ensures time-bound completion. He informed that PM Modi personally reviews projects with Union Secretaries and State Chief Secretaries. So far, over 50 high-level meetings have been held, accelerating more than 3,300 projects worth approximately ₹85 lakh crore across the country.
Regarding Chhattisgarh’s progress, CM Sai revealed that 99 national infrastructure projects involving an investment of ₹6.11 lakh crore are currently underway in the state. Out of these, 50 projects have already been completed. He further noted that out of 200 issues related to the state flagged on the PRAGATI portal, 183 have been successfully resolved, marking a resolution rate of over 91 per cent.
The CM detailed sector-wise achievements, stating that 24 projects in the power sector, 23 in road transport, 14 in railways, seven in coal, and nine in the steel sector have been streamlined. Key projects like the modernisation of the Bhilai Steel Plant and the Lara Super Thermal Power Project gained significant momentum through this digital intervention, creating new employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Highlighting specific local issues, CM Sai mentioned that hurdles regarding land utility and material supply for the Raipur-Kodebod four-lane road were resolved via the portal. He added that even Oxford University has lauded this innovation as an effective mechanism for developing economies, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to transparent and time-bound development.
