Chhattisgarh Cabinet clears Appropriation Bill, paddy bonus payment before Holi

Raipur, Feb 11: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday chaired a State Cabinet meeting at Mahanadi Bhawan where the Council of Ministers approved the draft Chhattisgarh Appropriation Bill-2026. The Bill, representing the Budget Estimates for the financial year 2026-27, will be presented during the upcoming session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly.
In a major relief for farmers, the Cabinet approved a lump sum payment of the difference amount to those who sold paddy at the support price. Under the Krishak Unnati Yojana, the state government will disburse approximately ₹10,000 crore before the Holi festival to bridge the gap to the promised rate of ₹3,100 per quintal.
The Council of Ministers also formally approved the Governor’s address for the eighth session of the Sixth Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly, scheduled for February–March 2026.
During the Kharif marketing year 2025-26, the state procured a total of 141.04 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from over 25.24 lakh farmers. The Chhattisgarh government currently purchases 21 quintals of paddy per acre at ₹3,100 per quintal, which officials claim is the highest procurement rate in the country.
