CM announces ₹50 lakh for dharmshala at Rajim Kumbh Kalp valedictory ceremony

Raipur, Feb 15: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has announced a grant of ₹50 lakh for the construction of a well-equipped dharmshala (rest house) in Rajim to enhance facilities for devotees. Addressing the concluding ceremony of the Rajim Kumbh Kalp 2026, the Chief Minister described the event as a vibrant symbol of the state’s spiritual consciousness, cultural pride, and social harmony.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to fast-track the Rajim Barrage project and accelerate previously proposed development works in the region. He stated that Rajim Kumbh Kalp is not merely a religious congregation but a celebration of Chhattisgarh’s identity and heritage.
Earlier, CM Sai offered prayers at the statue of Lord Rajiv Lochan, seeking peace and prosperity for the state. He began his address by invoking Lord Rajiv Lochan, Kuleshwar Mahadev, Rajim Dai, Chhattisgarh Mahtari, and Bharat Mata.
The holy confluence of the Mahanadi, Pairi, and Sondhur rivers has been a site of penance and devotion for centuries, the CM noted. Known as the “Prayag of Chhattisgarh,” Rajim holds a significant spiritual status due to its historical and religious dignity.
Extending Maha Shivratri greetings, the Chief Minister remarked that Lord Shiva symbolises sacrifice, restraint, and service. He noted that the state government had ensured comprehensive arrangements for transport, sanitation, drinking water, health services, and security for the visiting pilgrims.
The state government aims to develop the Rajim Kumbh site into a world-class spiritual destination in the coming years. CM Sai called upon citizens to preserve their cultural legacy and connect the younger generation with these traditions to ensure their continuity.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dayal Das Baghel stated that the festival serves as a massive celebration of social harmony and national unity. He highlighted that this year’s themes, featuring the Panchkosi Dham and Dwadash Jyotirlinga, provided a unique spiritual experience for visitors.
Tourism and Culture Minister Rajesh Agrawal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Rajim as a national religious tourism hub. He noted that such initiatives would provide a boost to the local economy and create employment opportunities for the youth.
The ceremony was attended by Rajim MLA Rohit Sahu, Abhanpur MLA Indrakumar Sahu, and several other public representatives alongside prominent seers and saints.
