CM Vishnu Deo Sai leads ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ yatra in Raipur

Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Wednesday led a massive ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ yatra in Raipur as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s nationwide campaign. The grand procession, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Raipur city unit, saw enthusiastic participation from thousands of citizens.
The yatra commenced at Shaheed Memorial Bhawan and concluded at Marine Drive, Telibandha, traversing the city’s main roads. A key highlight of the event was a 1,500-metre-long Indian Tricolour, which was carried by participants. A large number of people, many dressed in Tiranga-themed attire and with patriotic face paint, joined the procession.
The event aimed to foster a sense of national pride and dedication among the youth. According to Ramesh Singh Thakur, the Raipur city BJP District President, this year’s yatra was particularly significant as it was the first time a Chief Minister personally led the procession.
The yatra witnessed widespread participation from various groups. State BJP President Kiran Singh Deo, along with several ministers, MPs, MLAs, and representatives from trade, social, and voluntary organisations, were present. Students and ex-servicemen also participated with great fervour.
The streets of Raipur came alive with patriotic songs, drums, and bands, with citizens lining the roads to welcome the participants. The city was adorned with national flags, festive lights, and slogans, creating a celebratory atmosphere leading up to Independence Day. The event concluded at Marine Drive with a patriotic music evening, where Chief Minister Sai honoured ex-servicemen and the families of martyrs for their sacrifices.
29 doctors quit 20 AIIMS in two years; Raipur sees 35 resignations
Raipur: A significant shortage of doctors is emerging as a major concern across the country’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) institutions. According to data presented by the government in Parliament, 429 doctors have resigned from 20 AIIMS between 2022 and 2024.
The resignations have been particularly high at some of the country’s top medical institutes. AIIMS Delhi, the most prestigious institute, recorded the highest number of resignations with 52 doctors leaving. This was followed by AIIMS Rishikesh with 38 resignations and AIIMS Raipur with 35. AIIMS Bilaspur also lost 32 doctors, while AIIMS Mangalagiri saw 30 resignations during the same period.
A primary reason for the high number of resignations is the significant disparity in salary and facilities compared to the private sector. One doctor noted that private sector salaries can be “four to ten times higher than AIIMS.” The data also reveals a significant number of vacant faculty positions, with Delhi AIIMS having a 35 per cent vacancy rate, Bhopal AIIMS a 23 per cent rate, and Bhubaneswar AIIMS a 31 per cent rate.
While the government has implemented temporary solutions, such as hiring retired and visiting faculty on a contractual basis, doctors believe these are not permanent fixes. Other factors contributing to the shortage include a lack of adequate housing, poor connectivity in rural areas near campuses, low House Rent Allowance (HRA) in tier-3 cities, and security concerns at some locations.
