Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam to make democracy more inclusive: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, April 12: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday described the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam as a historic milestone in making Indian democracy more inclusive, participatory, and balanced. Addressing a high-level meeting at his residence, the CM stated that the Act would ensure greater female participation in decision-making and strengthen democratic institutions.
The Chief Minister emphasised that political empowerment of women is essential as they continue to excel across sectors through talent and determination. The meeting focused on the effective implementation of awareness campaigns to ensure the public understands the legislative impact of the Act.
Referring to the broad support the legislation received in 2023, Sai termed it a reflection of the collective maturity of Indian democracy. He noted that with women’s reservation slated for implementation from the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, the move would significantly reinforce the nation’s democratic framework.
Reiterating the state government’s commitment to empowerment, the CM highlighted schemes like Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Mahtari Gaurav Varsh as pillars of support for women in Chhattisgarh. He also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing the landmark legislation.
Speaking at the event, Kiran Singh Deo termed the Act a transformative step and urged workers to launch an extensive public awareness campaign. He stressed that the benefits of such political empowerment must reach every section of society.
The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, State Minister Lakshmi Rajwade, and several senior leaders, including Guru Khushwant Saheb, Rajesh Agarwal, and Rupkumari Chaudhary, among others.
