Jashpur, June 19: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai clarified that the high-level meeting held late into the night at the Chief Minister’s residence was not an emergency session but a review meeting focused on the achievements and public outreach programmes marking 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.

Speaking to the media before leaving for Jashpur, Sai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 12 years in office and several campaigns highlighting “12 years of trust, 12 years of development and 12 years of unmatched success” are being conducted across the country. He said responsibilities have been assigned to ministers and MLAs under these campaigns and the meeting was convened to review the progress of the assigned tasks.

The Chief Minister left for Jashpur to participate in the unveiling ceremony of a statue of tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda. He said he would also stay overnight at his native village, Bagiya.

Commenting on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit, Sai said the Congress has been losing public trust due to its statements and actions. He alleged that internal differences and infighting within the party have weakened its position and dismissed the party’s activities as political theatrics.

Referring to the visit of a delegation of Maharashtra legislators to Chhattisgarh, Sai said the MLAs met him at the Chief Minister’s residence and were studying the state’s systematic paddy procurement model.

On the issue of implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Chhattisgarh, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to introducing the legislation in the state. He said a committee has already been constituted for the purpose, but the process is unlikely to progress sufficiently for discussion during the upcoming monsoon session of the Assembly.
