Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting of the Unified Command in Nava Raipur to review the state’s comprehensive strategy against Naxalism. The meeting focused on the progress of ongoing anti-Naxal operations and the status of development projects in affected regions.

The Unified Command, a key body for coordinating security, brought together senior officials from central and state agencies. Attendees included Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, and top representatives from central forces like the CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, CISF, and the Indian Air Force.

Discussions centred on the state’s two-pronged approach of intensifying security operations while accelerating development. The meeting was particularly significant in light of recent intelligence-led operations, such as ‘Mission Sankalp,’ which have targeted Naxal strongholds and eliminated top cadres. These campaigns are crucial for the state’s efforts to regain control of previously inaccessible areas.

In tandem with the security push, the government is focusing on development to win the trust of local communities. The initiatives reviewed included the construction of permanent homes for families affected by violence and for surrendered Naxalites. The meeting also assessed progress on projects for improving road connectivity, a critical aspect of both security and socio-economic growth. The state and Union governments have been allocating significant funds for infrastructure, including fortified police stations, skill development centres, and enhanced telecom connectivity in Naxal-affected districts.
