Raipur, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday inaugurated the “Jashpur Tourism and Agriculture Revolution” at his camp office in Bagiya. The initiative aims to empower local self-help groups and farmers by promoting eco-tourism and homestays. The event was attended by former Union Minister Arjun Munda and local MLAs.
The Chief Minister praised Jashpur as a unique blend of nature and culture. He announced that the popular Jashpur Jamboree festival, first held in 2024, will return for its second season from November 6 to 9, 2025. The festival seeks to establish Jashpur as a prominent destination on the national and international tourism map by offering a mix of adventure, art, and community experiences.
The inaugural Jamboree in 2024 was a major success, attracting visitors from neighbouring states and various parts of Chhattisgarh. It featured a blend of eco-tourism, adventure sports, and tribal traditions, which not only entertained visitors but also provided employment for local artisans and guides.
The upcoming festival promises more activities, including rock climbing, rappelling, and water sports at Mayali Dam. Other attractions will include paramotoring and hot air balloon rides over the Madheshwar mountains, traditional folk dances like Karma and Sarhul, and exhibitions of tattoo art, woodcraft, and ironcraft. The event will also feature a fair dedicated to Jashpur’s regional food and traditional games.
CM Sai stated that his government considers tourism an industry. To support this vision, a new Home-stay policy has been implemented to encourage local communities to host tourists and offer an authentic tribal experience. Festivals such as the Jashpur Jamboree will directly benefit local homestay owners, guides, and craftsmen.
He also highlighted upgrades to tourist sites under the Swadesh Darshan Yojana, including a cactus garden, boating facilities, and tents at Mayali Nature Camp. He noted that the Madheshwar mountain, which features a natural Shivling, has been registered in the Golden Book of World Records as the “Largest Natural Facsimile of Shivling,” further boosting Jashpur’s status as a spiritual and cultural destination.
To increase the region’s reach, plans are in place for GIS mapping and digital marketing. Training will also be provided to local youth to help them meet global tourism standards. CM Sai’s goal is to make the Jashpur Jamboree an annual festival that attracts international tourists, thereby promoting the region’s nature, culture, and development.
