Raipur, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the new building of the Chhattisgarh Vidhansabha in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh. The inauguration, a major milestone in the state’s 25-year journey, coincided with its Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Modi remarked that the day marks a “golden beginning for Chhattisgarh’s development journey.” He highlighted his deep emotional bond with the region, recalling his time spent there as a party worker, and expressed gratitude for being a witness to the state’s transformation.

The Prime Minister paid tribute to the creator of the state, Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose statue was also unveiled at the complex. “Today, Chhattisgarh stands at a new pinnacle of its aspirations,” Modi said, adding that when Atal ji formed Chhattisgarh in 2000, it was a step towards opening new avenues of development.

He also honoured the eminent members of the Constituent Assembly from the region, including Shri Ravishankar Shukla and Barrister Thakur Chedilal, who played a significant role in drafting the Constitution.

Referring to the new Assembly as a pilgrimage site of democracy, Shri Modi affirmed that it is not merely a place for lawmaking, “but a vibrant centre for shaping the destiny of Chhattisgarh.” He stressed that every pillar, corridor, and chamber must symbolize transparency, accountability, and the voice of the people.

The Prime Minister emphasized the nation is moving forward by embracing “heritage and development together.” He declared that India is the Mother of Democracy, noting that the new complex reflects the state’s rich cultural heritage. He highlighted the inclusion of Bastar art, the messages of Baba Guru Ghasidas ji and Mata Shabari, and the democratic tradition of the Muriya Darbar of Bastar. He also praised Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh’s experienced leadership.

Modi highlighted the transformation of Chhattisgarh over the past 25 years. He affirmed that the state, “once known for Naxalism and backwardness, is now emerging as a symbol of prosperity, security, and stability.”

The Prime Minister linked the ideals of Lord Shri Ram to contemporary governance through the vision of ‘Ram to Rashtra’, which symbolizes a governance rooted in good administration and public welfare. He further stated that this vision includes the resolve to eliminate terror, citing Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of India’s pledge to destroy forces opposed to humanity. “India is now moving towards the eradication of Naxalism and Maoist terrorism,” he affirmed.

Urging legislators to uphold the guiding mantra of good governance, ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’ (The Citizen is God), the Prime Minister emphasized that every decision taken must prioritize public welfare, accelerate reform, and simplify citizens’ lives.

He concluded by stressing that Chhattisgarh’s Silver Jubilee celebrations are the starting point for a larger national goal. He called upon all present to use the new complex to achieve the vision of a Developed India by 2047, ensuring every action is directed towards building a developed Chhattisgarh and a developed India.

Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Minister Tokan Sahu, and other distinguished guests were present at the event.

The new Assembly building has been constructed on a Green Building concept, planned to be fully powered by solar energy and equipped with a rainwater harvesting system.
