Govt committed to making Sirpur international tourism hub: CM Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, Feb 1: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the three-day Sirpur Mahotsav at the renowned historical and archaeological site of Sirpur today. Presiding over the grand opening on Maghi Purnima, the CM lit the ceremonial lamp before the idol of Maa Saraswati. Food Minister and District In-charge Minister Dayaldas Baghel chaired the inaugural session.
Greeting the residents of Mahasamund district, the Chief Minister stated that the region is progressing steadily under the blessings of Shri Gandheshwar Mahadev. He emphasised that Sirpur is a vital cultural identity for both Chhattisgarh and the nation, representing a unique confluence of Sanatana, Buddhist, and Jain cultures.
The Chief Minister dedicated development projects worth approximately ₹200 crore to the district, covering roads, bridges, drinking water, and general infrastructure. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing Sirpur into an international tourism centre. Plans include the construction of modern roads, advanced lighting, parking facilities, a tourist facilitation centre, and a world-class tourist corridor.
Welcoming Buddhist thinkers from Malaysia, Korea, and Japan, CM Sai noted that the government is making serious efforts to include Sirpur in the list of World Heritage Sites. He added that the Sirpur Barrage would be sanctioned soon to bolster regional development. Furthermore, work is underway on a scheme to transport water from the Sikaser Reservoir to the Kodar Reservoir, ensuring a consistent water supply for local farmers.
